Changing blogging domain and site

Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. One thing one can say about Blogger is that it is easy to work with.  This site will no longer be updated Follow me to my new domain @  thecontentreader.com Hope to see you there.  Lisbeth @ The Content Reader

Paris in July - Bienvenue chez nous pour un dîner français

Image
Time for my French dinner during Paris in July. We had invited good friends, one couple, to this special evening. Well, as we all know we are still in the grip of a pandemic and they had recently had covid. Although they had recovered, they were still not feeling well and had to cancel. That left Martin and me all on our own. I had prepared a menu de dégustation with some nice wines to go with it (menu below). It turned out to be a very long French dinner, probably like they do it in France. We started slowly at around 3 pm and ended some time in the late evening. I cooked as the menu went ahead so very relaxing.  With such a menu I needed a little bit of help with the serving. Let me present Arnaud! To start with an amuse bouche: Chèvre Chaud With Pumpkin Seeds followed by a Crème Ninon soup. To this I served champagne. Both dishes were excellent. I have done the soup before but not the chèvre chaud.  Apart from the soup, the other dishes were all new to me.  The third...

Paris in July 2021 - My French Dinner

Thyme for Tea is hosting another Paris in July challenge this year. Now I am ready for my contribution to a French dinner.  Being on the road in our camper van, it is not that easy to make a French dinner. I still wanted to try something in all simplicity. At the time of the dinner I was at the Inari lake in north eastern part of Finland. A beautiful lake and we got a place just by the water.  In this part of the world the supermarkets mostly have basic things connected to France. They have a lot of local specialities that we also tried out. But, now it is all French. I managed to buy a brie and a camembert but that was about it. Oh, I also managed to find a beautiful wine from one of our favourite producers Guigal.  I pretend with this dinner that making the menu card in French will make everybody believe that this is a genuin French dinner. So here we go, the MENU! My husband, Martin, made the spaghetti. This recipe is one he makes very well and I always enjoy it. Bein...

Paris in July - My French Dinner

Image
One of the things I wanted to do in July was a French dinner, and I did. Not a big one, just my friends Ingalill and Benny who are neighbours. It was decided to have it on the same day as France and Croatia played the final in the football world championship. What can be better than hit "two birds with one stone"? Here is the meny from my wonderful "Guest and Menu" book I received as a gift many years ago. It always comes in handy on occasions like this. The Menu

My French Dinner

Last Saturday we invited some friends to share our French dinner. I am not entirely sure that the dinner was very French, but at least the wines were! Due to the heat wave that hit Brussels last weekend with temperature up towards 40C, it did not feel right to make a 'Coq au vine', one of my favourite French dishes. Neither was it the time to do another favourite 'Beef Bourguignon'! To hot for the soaring temperature. I settled for scallops for the  starter, salmon for the main course and a white chocolate brulée for dessert. Here is the menu.
