Changing blogging domain and site

Image
Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. One thing one can say about Blogger is that it is easy to work with.  This site will no longer be updated Follow me to my new domain @  thecontentreader.com Hope to see you there.  Lisbeth @ The Content Reader

Nonfiction November - week 5

Image
We have come to the end of this interesting November. I feel I have met so many new bloggers that are as interested in nonfiction as I am.  A challenge that has given me a little bit of light during the dark days of November. At least that is how it is in the south of Sweden. If you are even further north, it is even darker. Week 5 : (November 29-December 3) — New to My TBR with Jaymi at The OC Bookgirl: It’s been a month full of amazing nonfiction books! Which ones have made it onto your TBR? Be sure to link back to the original blogger who posted about that book!   Although I did purchase a couple of nonfiction books this November, they were for other purposes. I have been inspired by all of you and have noted books in fields I usually do not read; like mindfulness, science, nature, cooking and a few of my favourite genre, history. I will go back to look again at your suggestions, next time I intend to buy a nonfiction book. As it is, my shelves are already too full of these kind o

New purchases

Yes, I know, I should not buy any new books, but lately I have had this urge to read new books. Probably because I read your reviews of them. The problem with a huge TBR pile is that we feel obliged to read from it. As time goes by(!) they tend to be older and older. A mixture of new and old would be a good recipe I have decided and here we go. My last ' New purchases ' is from mid-October and since then I have bought 7 books.  Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr Ever since read All The Light We Cannot See  Anthony Doerr has been a favourite author. I have also read  About Grace. Therefore eager to start reading this one.  "Thirteen-year-old Anna, an orphan, lives inside the formidable walls of Constantinople in a house of women who make their living embroidering the robes of priests. Restless, insatiably curious, Anna learns to read, and in this ancient city, famous for its libraries, she finds a book, the story of Aethon, who longs to be turned into a bird so that he can

Nonfiction November - Week 4

Image
We have already reached week 4 of Nonfiction November. Time passes very quickly when you have fun. So many interesting posts on the various themes. I have also found new blogging friends. Christopher @ Plucked from the Stacks  is hosting this week, and the theme is:  Week 4 (November 22-26) Stranger Than Fiction : This week we’re focusing on all the great nonfiction books that almost don’t seem real. A sports biography involving overcoming massive obstacles, a profile on a bizarre scam, a look into the natural wonders in our world—basically, if it makes your jaw drop, you can highlight it for this week’s topic. I had a quick look back on nonfictions I have read, and have chosen a few of them. Bess: the Life of Lady Ralegh, Wife to Sir Walter by Anna Beer It is always interesting to read about strong women, especially when they lived in a time when there was not so much independence for women. I think Bess Throckmorton is one of those women, who had to endure a lot, but seems to have be

Nonfiction November - Week 3

Image
We have reached week no. 3 which is hosted by Veronica @ The Thousand Book Project.   The topic for this week is expertise.  Week 3: (November 15-19) – Be The Expert/ Ask the Expert/ Become the Expert: Three ways to join in this week! You can either share 3 or more books on a single topic that you have read and can recommend (be the expert), you can put the call out for good nonfiction on a specific topic that you have been dying to read (ask the expert), or you can create your own list of books on a topic that you’d like to read (become the expert). My post is rather late this week and the reason is I did not know what expertise I should refer to. After thinking it over, I decided to go for a food topic. Lately, I have tried to eat more vegan and vegetarian alternatives to the average diet. I eat vegetarian alternatives frequently, but have not really tried out vegan. Inspired by the wonderful lady hosting the youtube channel Pick up Limes , I bought her e-cookbook and started out. It

50 Books A Year Reading Challenge 2022!

Image
Yes, you read the title right. Although anticipating less challenges this year, here is another one coming up. Jut couldn't resist it. It is hosted by Emily The Nerdy Bookworm . The rules are below, rather simple, just grab a book that signifies one of the 50 challenges. I am joining because it gives me a rather free choice of books, from TBR, e-books or physical books, bought or borrowed. I will not commit to a certain number of books, but will let destiny guide me according to the criteria.  RULES/HOW TO PARTICIPATE: You cannot double up on books. For example, one book per category.  If you are a blogger, bookstagrammer, etc, and posting your reviews and books read try to link back to my blog and this challenge. That way, more people can join in on the fun/discussions. Use the hashtag #NerdyBookwormChallengeXO when posting on social media and sharing books you read for challenges etc. You can join in on our Facebook group here for discussions. You can read and do the prompts/chal

Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge 2022 and 2022 Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge - Author Edition

Image
Soon we are reaching a new year, and 2022 reading challenges are coming up. I intend not to participate in too many, although there are so many interesting reading challenges out there. There are a few though, which are helping me reading books from my TBRs. Here two that I will be following. Both hosted by Lori  @ Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book  - and Author Edition . The rules are the same for both challenges.  These challenges will run from January 1st, 2022 until December 31st, 2022. You can join anytime. You do not have to post a review of the book. Books can come from any genre. Children’s Books and Novellas are acceptable but they need to be over 50 Pages.  You do not need to link up each spoonful. Make a page or a post or a GoodReads shelf where you will keep track of your spoonfuls.  Crossovers to other challenges are allowed and encouraged! It’s an alphabet challenge!!! The challenge is to read one book that has a title starting with every letter of the alphabet AND  t

The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams

Image
Don't we all love a list? Especially, if it is a reading list? What happens to people when a reading list seems to appear at all impossible places, urging people to read the books on it? "When Aleisha discovers a crumpled reading list tucked into a tattered library book, it sparks an extraordinary journey. For the list fins Aleisha just when she needs it most, the stories transporting her away from everything - her loneliness, her troubles at home - one page at a time. And when widower Mukesh arrives at the library, desperate to connect with his bookworm granddaughter, Aleisha introduces him to the magic of the reading list. An anxious teenager and a lovely grandfather forming an unlikely book club of two. Some stories never leave you. And some change your life, forever." Aleisha has accepter a summer job at the library. She really wanted to work in a clothes shop, but had to take what was available. Without knowing it, her rather unhappy life is about to change. And, whi

Nonfiction November - second week

Image
We are now starting week 2 for Nonfiction November. This week is hosted by Katie at Doing Dewey and the theme is Book Pairing .   Week 2: (November 8-12)  This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. It can be a “If you loved this book, read this!” or just two titles that you think would go well together. Maybe it’s a historical novel and you’d like to get the real history by reading a nonfiction version of the story.  I don't exactly know if this will be called pairing, but I hope it can do. I choose a biography I read this year. Jag vill sätta världen i rörelse  (I want to put the world in motion (my translation) by Anna-Karin Palm. It is about Selma Lagerlöf, one of our most famous authors. She was the first female member of the Swedish Academy and the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature.  The biography is very well written and researched. A detailed account of Lagerlöf's life, as well as her work. She is a person most people know of, but how
