Changing blogging domain and site

Image
Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. One thing one can say about Blogger is that it is easy to work with.  This site will no longer be updated Follow me to my new domain @  thecontentreader.com Hope to see you there.  Lisbeth @ The Content Reader

Summary of five very good books read in August

Image
Out of the 12 books I read in August, five of them stood out above the others. Usually, one or two sticks out, but five out of twelve is good. Here a short review for each of them. Przewalski's Horse by Maja Lunde The third book in her climate series of four books. We find ourselves in the past, present and future where we follow different protagonists during different time lines with a common theme; the wild horses. Mikhail lives in Russian in 1881, works in a zoo and finds himself enrolled in an expedition to capture wild horses in Mongolia. It changes his life in more ways than one. Karin and her son Mathias, in 1992, are taking Przewalski horses from France to Mongolia to try to re-introduce the race into their natural habitat. Mother and son have a difficult relationship, but maybe the horses can bring them together. Eva is living with her daughter in Norway in 2064, trying to save the last species of her wild animals, including the wild horses. Her daughter wants them to le...

During the second week of AnnaBookBel's Nordic FINDS challenge I have read two book by the Norwegian author Maja Lunde. These are part 1 and 2 of her Climate Quartet series, with Przewalskis Horse as part 3 (not yet read, but a must read). I think part 4 is still to be published. They can be read individually as well.  The History of Bees This is the most wonderful cover, don't you think? "In the spirit of Station Eleven and Never Let Me Go, this dazzling and ambitious literary debut follows three generations of beekeepers from the past, present, and future, weaving a spellbinding story of their relationship to the bees, to their children, and to one another against the backdrop of an urgent, global crisis. England, 1852. William is a biologist and seed merchant who sets out to build a new type of beehive, one that will give both him and his children honor and fame. United States, 2007. George is a beekeeper fighting an uphill battle against modern farming, but he hopes ...

Two new, free books and the largest Abbey Monastery Library

I have been 'on the road' for about six weeks. We have been driving around Croatia, Slovenia and Austria in our camper van. Busy most of the time and not so much time for reading, as you might have noticed. Not a lot of action on my blog lately. Now we are back in Innsbruck and I am ready to dive into the blogging again. I will also go through all your blogs on my Feedly which by now has some 700 entries. There might be a few late comments. In most camping sites people tend to leave their finished books behind. It is always a pleasure to see what other people are reading during their holidays. In the area where we were (Croatia) there are mostly German and Austrian tourists so most books in German. Although I speak German it would take me forever to finish a book, so they are out.  At the beautiful camping in Zaostrog I ran into some luck. I found two books, and one in Swedish. Yay! Both books seem to be very interesting.  Aren't the covers just georgious? Binas historia/Bi...
