Changing blogging domain and site

Image
Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. One thing one can say about Blogger is that it is easy to work with.  This site will no longer be updated Follow me to my new domain @  thecontentreader.com Hope to see you there.  Lisbeth @ The Content Reader

The Classics Club's Unbelievably Detailed 50 Question Questionnaire

Image
On Readerbuzz I found a post about 50 questions put forward by The Classics Club . They want to know why, how and what you read when it comes to classics.  I am not able to find the questions on the Classic Club web-site, but copied from Readerbuzz. Always a fan of questionnaires I can not resist this one. Here we go. Share a link to your club list . The Classics Club: Fifty Classic(ish) Books I Will Read in the Next Five Years When did you join The Classics Club?   I think I joined in 2014 or 2015 . So far I have read 22 of 50 titles. It seems I did not properly registered, which I have now done!  What are you currently reading?   Mansfield Park by Jane Austen and Shirley by Charlotte Brontë. Both of them hard to get through although I love their other books. What did you just finish reading and what did you think of it?  My latest classic was Richard III by Shakespeare. Not an easy read, but I managed.  What are you reading next? Why?  W...

The Importance of Covers

Image
A while ago I read a post somewhere, about how important covers are. How important are they really? Do you choose a book due to the cover, or do you go for title/author? Personally, I think a good cover attracts your attention to a book, but I would not buy it unless it was a book that interested me. The Twilight series and their covers, which I think fits perfectly for these kind of books, has also changed the covers in other books. It seems, like in other areas, to be a trend. One popular book will be followed by covers similar to this book. The other interesting thing with the Twilight series is the interest it has given Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, being the favourite book of Bella. She is identifying herself with Cathy and sees Edward as her Heathcliff. There are several references in the series to Emily's book.  “Hand me that book, will you?” I asked, pointing over his shoulder. His eyebrows pulled together in confusion, but he gave it to me quickly. “This again?” he as...

Visiting Haworth

Image
I am quite excited because tomorrow I will finally go to Haworth, Yorkshire, and see what inspired the Brontë sisters. A lot of friends here in Brussels, from the Brontë group, have been there and they have given very positive views, so expectations are high. The museum is a must as well as a walk on the moors. Weather forecast not too good, rain is expected, so I better take good clothes with me. Report will follow. Quotations about the Geography of the Moors from the web-site The Reader's Guide to Wuthering Heights Chapter 11 One time I passed the old gate, going out of my way, on a journey to Gimmerton [from Thrushcross Grange]. … I came to a stone where the highway branches off on to the moor at your left hand; a rough sand-pillar, with the letters W. H. cut on its north side, on the east, G., and on the south-west, T. G. It serves as a guide-post to the Grange, the Heights, and village. Chapter 12 There was no moon, and everything beneath lay in misty darkness: not ...
