Changing blogging domain and site

Image
Dear blogger friends, Lately, I had a few problems with the Blogger web site for my blog The Content Reader . I took this as a sign that I should finally create a web site of my own. I have been checking out other options, but could not get my act together. Finally, I have managed to create a basic web site with Wix, which I hope will be developed over time.  It has not been easy to find my way around. One thing one can say about Blogger is that it is easy to work with.  This site will no longer be updated Follow me to my new domain @  thecontentreader.com Hope to see you there.  Lisbeth @ The Content Reader

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

Image
I have heard so many good reviews about this book. It is always with a little bit of ambiguity I start reading such books. But, no fear this time. It is a wonderful book.  "In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders. But when a brutal killing takes place on their very doorstep, the Thursday Murder Club fins themselves in the middle of their first live case. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron might be pushing eighty but they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer before it's too late?"  The story takes place at a somewhat luxury old people's home. More like a service home where you have your own flat, serviced with medical assistance,  swimming pool, activities etc. Could be a nice retreat for anyone. One of the many groups coming together is ' The Thursday Murder Club ' which aim is to solve cold cases. The group consists of Ron, Ibrahim, E

Book Beginnings on Friday and The Friday 56

A while since I posted here, but now it is time to join hosts Rose City Reader  with Book beginnings on Fridays and Freda's Voice  with The Friday 56. Today's book is The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. A review will come soon.   Book beginnings on Fridays "Well, let's start with Elizabeth, shall we? And see where that gets us? I knew who she was, of course; everybody here know Elizabeth. She has one of the three-bed flats in Larkin Court. It's the one on the corner, with the decking? Also, I was once on a quiz team with Stephen, who, for a number of reasons, is Elizabeth's third husband." The Friday 56 "'A nun? That was very good.' 'I didn't have much time to think,' says Joyce 'If pushed, I was going to say someone had touched me,' says Elizabeth. 'You know how hot they are on that these days. But a nun is much more fun.'"

I am reading quite a lot of blogs and I am also following a couple of book vlogs on Youtube. It is very interesting indeed. One thing I have noticed is that many of you are reading new books. Seems natural of course. Why is it then that I tend to read older books. I am not talking exactly about classics, but most of them were published some years back. Probably because I try to read from my TBR shelves and there are very few new books. I don't want to buy new books before I have read most of what I already have. A little bit of catch 22 there, I guess? Time to do something I thought, and ventured down to a book shop here in Innsbruck. Most books are of course in German, and although I speak it, it would take me forever to read one. However, they do have a small English section and I was lucky to find some really nice titles.  The Maidens by Alex Michaelides I loved his first book The Silent Patient  (a short review under link) and am looking forward reading his second one. Sounds t

Time for one of my favourite reading challenges, Nonfiction November, hosted by Rennie at  What's Nonfiction?  Head over to the web-site for more details about the co-hosts. There is a theme for each week:  Week 1: (November 1-5) – Your Year in Nonfiction with Rennie at What’s Nonfiction : Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions – What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year? Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year? What nonfiction book have you recommended the most? What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?   Week 2: (November 8-12) – Book Pairing with Katie at Doing Dewey : This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. It can be a “If you loved this book, read this!” or just two titles that you think would go well together. Maybe it’s a historical novel and you’d like to get the real history by reading a nonfiction version of the story.  Week 3: (November

I have been 'on the road' for about six weeks. We have been driving around Croatia, Slovenia and Austria in our camper van. Busy most of the time and not so much time for reading, as you might have noticed. Not a lot of action on my blog lately. Now we are back in Innsbruck and I am ready to dive into the blogging again. I will also go through all your blogs on my Feedly which by now has some 700 entries. There might be a few late comments. In most camping sites people tend to leave their finished books behind. It is always a pleasure to see what other people are reading during their holidays. In the area where we were (Croatia) there are mostly German and Austrian tourists so most books in German. Although I speak German it would take me forever to finish a book, so they are out.  At the beautiful camping in Zaostrog I ran into some luck. I found two books, and one in Swedish. Yay! Both books seem to be very interesting.  Aren't the covers just georgious? Binas historia/Bi
