Blogging Anniversary - 10 years

A while ago I checked when I did my first blog post, in order to celebrate with an anniversary post. Well, that day came and went without any reaction from me. Better late than never, so here a reminder of my very first blog post from 24 October 2012.  The book was New Finnish Grammar  by Diego Marani. Marani is an Italian novelist, translator and newspaper columnist. While working as a translator for the European Union he invented a language ‘Europanto’ which is a mixture of languages and based on the common practice of word-borrowing usage of many EU languages. It was a suitable book to start with, being a book about letters, languages and memories. With a beautiful prose, the novel went directly to my heart.  "One night at Trieste in September 1943 a seriously wounded soldier is found on the quay. Merry Christmas!

I wish all of my blogging friends out there a little bit of a late Merry Christmas.

I hope the holidays were nice and peaceful. I celebrated in the south of Sweden with family from both sides and I think we all enjoyed the Christmas time, in spite of it not being too Christmas like outside. But we always have a Disney hour with various Disney figures to look at. It is a tradition since 1960, and there, in the world of fairy tales, we get a feeling for the season.

Once this tradition has been done it is time for a Christmas smorgasbord, Christmas presents and a quiet evening.

  1. Merry Christmas from Australia.
We also enjoyed a Christmas smorgasbord, with a family Monopoly game afterwards and evening swim at the beach.

Thanks for stopping by and all your thoughtful comments throughout the year.

    1. It sounds so lovely with a swim! Here we are just lucky if we happen to see the sun for a couple of hours. A swim is only possible in the spa that we are lucky to have in our residence. And that is what I did yesterday. First with a hammam sauna and then a swim. It was lovely! Enjoy your lovely weather.

  2. Merry Christmas -- yes, a couple of days late. I fear I took some offline time too!

Your tree looks beautiful and I love the silver heart. Meanwhile, I want to thank you for your visits to the Gypsy and your comments. They always make me smile. I am always in awe of how this blog land pulls us together from all over the world. Happy New Year!

  3. I made an effort to put everything in blue and silver this year. To go with our new flat which is more or less decorated with white, grey and black. Thank you for being such a wonderful blogging friend. I always appreciate your positive approach to life. I really hope that I can be as positive for 2017. See you there! In the meantime a Happy New Year to you and your lovely family.
